STRUGGLING WITH DOUBLE STANDARD

I am having a really difficult time with the double standard being applied to the participants in the truckers convoy and the so-called protests by the “Palestinian Youth movement.” The trucker convoy was peaceful, with no violence. The biggest complaint was the downtown gridlock and horn honking, diesel fumes and loud music for three weeks. Canadian flags were proudly displayed everywhere.

Superior Court Justice Charles Huckland said that horn honking was “malicious conduct.” “Hold the line” has now become a chargeable offence.

How does that compare with the conduct of the pro-Palestinian “protests”?

These pro-Gaza radicals have been screaming antisemitic hate, blocking our streets, disrupting traffic and universities and using intimidation and violence in Jewish neighbourhoods and their places of business, schools and worship. Some protesters have burned the Canadian flag and stomped on it. They have loudly expressed their hate for Canada. This conduct has been ongoing for at least a year, with no visible consequences.

Where is Mr. Tough Justin Trudeau in all this, the one who invoked the “Emergencies Act,” froze the bank accounts of trucker supporters and watched as so-called convoy leaders were thrown in jail? People are now facing charges of “mischief” with a maximum of 10 years in jail.

Have the leaders and organizers of hate been charged or jailed? Spineless politicians maintain a silence.

No wonder citizens have no respect for or don’t trust the law, courts or politicians. Bias is alive and well in all three.

BUT ‘DEATH TO CANADA’ IS OK?

Re: King mischief maker; Found guilty of 5 charges for role in ’22 convoy protest, Nov. 23

Funny how someone who is found guilty of the crime of mischief is facing up to 10 years in prison while pro-Palestinian protesters writing “death to Canada” and making threats to those who dare oppose them aren’t even arrested.

Not only is Canada broken, but our justice system is a joke. How many charged with serious crimes are out roaming the streets, poised to commit another crime and make more victims? Let’s coddle the real criminals, shall we, and bring the hammer down hard on those opposing a tyrannical government’s policies.

Justin Trudeau will be gone soon and I’ll celebrate that day.
